Last weekend was a quiet one for TC as he had no races on his schedule. He put the time to good use as he prepared for what he hopes will be a rewarding return trip to Virginia.
This coming weekend brings the 2nd Annual Made in America Whelen 300 at Martinsville Speedway. Teddy won the inaugural event in 2005 driving the Mystique Motorsports #13. It was his first-ever victory at the famed half-mile oval. Martinsville has a rich tradition of Modified racing and that win was one of the highlights of TC’s career. He heads back hoping for a repeat performance driving the Al-Lee Installations #36 for car owner Eddie Whelan in the 250-lap race. A victory would be a huge step toward the 2006 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour championship.
“Martinsville is such an important track for Modified racing, a big part of our history,” said Teddy. “Every Modified driver wants to win a race there. I had come close on a few occasions but last year I was finally able to win one and it is something you will never forget. But now that I have done it I want another one.
“Our team is really on top of things right now. The equipment is in great shape, the crew is really clicking, and adding Brad LaFontaine as our crew chief has really brought things together. His knowledge and his organizational skills have added a very essential part to our operation. I know when we get to Martinsville we will be fully prepared to win. This is a very important race for us – not only because of the history of Martinsville but also in the chase to win the championship. You can never predict a win, but I am very confident we are in position for a successful weekend. I’m anxious to go racing.”
