Last weekend was shaping up to be a busy one for TC. He would make his return to Stafford on Friday night in an SK Modified. The following day he would be back at another familiar track, the Waterford Speedbowl, as the Whelen Modified Tour made their first appearance of 2006 for the Whelen 150. Unfortunately rain that blanketed the Northeast on Saturday washed out the Tour event. No rescheduled date has been announced.
Friday night TC was being the wheel of the Prestige Motorsports #81, owned by Doug DiPisa and previously driven by Chuck Docherty. On tap was the biggest event of the year for the SK’s, the 33rd Annual Coors Light SK Modified 100. It proved to be a short night for Ted, Starting the feature from the 15th position, he quickly charged up into the top-ten. But a right front wheel bearing let go, ending his night early and he was credited with a disappointing 26th place finish.
“I was itching to go racing at Stafford,” admits TC. “I want to thank Doug DiPisa for offering me a ride in his SK. It’s good equipment and the crew is a good bunch of guys who really work hard. We were a little down on power but the car was handling great. I was moving up quickly when the bearing let go and ended the night. I’ll be back next Friday night and I’m hoping for a little better luck. This is a car capable of winning and Mike Pettit is working on the motor during the week, so we will be ready to go full throttle next Friday night.”
This coming week is shaping up to be a hectic one for TC, On Wednesday night he will be at the wheel of the Brady Bunch #00 at Seekonk Speedway for the 2nd annual Modified Madness 100. On Thursday night he will jump behind the wheel of the Jensen #79 Sunoco Modified at Thompson. Friday it’s back to Stafford in the #81. Topping off the week is the WMT 100 at Holland International Speedway in Western New York driving Eddie Whelan’s potent #36.
