Finally!

07/12/07

On Friday night the stars were finally aligned in the proper order above Stafford Motor Speedway. The bad luck that has stalked TC all season finally broke down and he drove the #13 SK Modified into Victory Lane for the first time in 2007.

Starting back in 12th, Teddy was working his way to the front as Kerry Malone led the early laps. Keith Rocco took the lead on lap 8 as TC was marching to the front. He finally reached second and drew a bead on the leader. He powered into the top spot on lap 31 and went unchallenged the rest of the way to break his winless drought.

“The car was great again this week,” smiled Teddy. “We’ve been fast every week but our luck has been awful. Tonight it was good for a change and we made it to Victory Lane. The car was fast all night. Woody Pitkat was chasing me and he was fast, but we were just a little better. Hopefully this will turn things around and we can start a streak of wins instead of disappointments.”

On Saturday night TC was at Monadnock Speedway in New Hampshire for a 100-lap True Value Modified Racing Series race. The Czarnecki Brothers #11 was fast but struggled with overheating problems. That caused Teddy to eventually park the car, credited with finishing 18th.

The next day TC headed even further north to Twin State Speedway for a NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour 100-lap flash event. The Eddie Whelan #36 was seventh fastest in time trials, putting Teddy in the first qualifying heat which he won. He lined up seventh for the feature and climbed as high as second behind leader James Civali. Worn tires would see him fade later in the race to finish fifth as Civali went on to win.

“We had a good car and I was battling Civali for the lead,” said TC. “I got shoved up high and fell back. I was coming back to the front but my tires wore out. The extra 25-laps we ran in our heat didn’t help. The flash format needs more work before we go to Riverhead. In my opinion, either everyone should run the heats or no one so the playing field is level.”

This weekend Teddy will be back at Stafford on Friday night, trying to extend his winning streak to two. On Saturday morning he will fly south to compete that night in a 150-lap ASA Southern Modified Tour event at Franklin County Speedway in Callaway, Virginia. For this race TC will be driving the Hillbilly Racing #79 Modified owned by Roger and Sandra Hill.
