Last weekend for Teddy was a lot of effort for very little reward. On Friday night at Stafford he lined up 17th on the starting grid for the night’s 40-lap SK Modified feature. Doug Coby led early before Frank Ruocco took over at the point. TC was following point leader Keith Rocco to the front and eventually settled into second behind Ruocco. In the late stages Teddy began to fade and in the final 3 laps he slipped back to finish fourth behind Ruocco, Rocco and veteran Tom Bolles. His finish was good enough to solidify Teddy’s runner-up position in the point standings, just 24 markers behind Rocco.
“We had a good car tonight but we used it up more than I wanted to coming from the back,” explained Teddy post-race. “I got up to second behind Ruocco but late in the race I was out of tires and slipped back to fourth. I thought we were going to gain some points on Keith (Rocco) but we pretty much held our own. There’s a lot of racing left and we’re running really well, so I’m not concerned.”
On Saturday night TC drove the Czarnecki Brothers #20 Modified in a 100-lap True Value Racing Series event at Monadnock Speedway in New Hampshire. After finishing in a virtual dead heat in his heat race, Teddy lined up sixth for the feature. His night was short as the #20 was sidelined due to overheating at the one-third mark of the race, relegating him to a disappointing 17th place finish.
This week Teddy returns to Stafford in the #13 SK for a scheduled 40-lap feature. On Saturday he heads west to Spencer Speedway in Williamson, New York to drive the Eddie Whelen-owned #36 Modified in a 100-lap NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour event. This marks the first return for the Tour to the Upstate New York facility since September 3, 1994. Teddy competed in that event 14 years ago, starting and finishing 15th in the Scott Goodspeed-owned #30 Modified. He hopes for a better outcome this time. Looming quickly on the horizon is the 4th Annual Vivieros Insurance Modified Madness 100 at Seekonk Speedway on Wednesday, July 16. This $10,000-to-win event is one TC is hungry to win.
