TC and the crew headed to Stafford last Friday night with determination. Each week they get closer to Victory Lane in the #13 SK Modified but never quite make it, usually due to circumstances beyond their control. They were focused on smashing through the barriers.
For a time it looked promising. The car was fast in practice and he won his qualifying heat. Lining up lucky 13th in the feature starting grid, all the signs were there for that first win. Teddy was on the move early and marched up to second. He got turned around and went to the rear, but the car was still fast and he repeated the process to run second. Once more a spin put him at the rear with just a handful of laps remaining. With eight circuits to go TC was 14th but he went to work and made it back to second for a third instance before running out of time.
“We’re so close,” explained Teddy. “The motor has awesome power and the car handles well from week-to-week. Friday night is was perfect in practice and the heat. We needed to tighten it up for the feature but we were clearly the fastest car. We had to go to the back three times and we still would have won if we had a couple more laps. The only thing keeping us from winning is bad luck. You can’t make adjustments for that. All we can do is keep trying and sooner or later it has to change. Maybe next Friday night we’ll finally catch a break.”
This is shaping up to be a busy weekend for TC, just the way he likes it. The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour returns from a three-week layoff at Thompson on Thursday night. On Friday it’s back to Stafford. Saturday night Teddy will drive the Czarnecki Brothers #11 in a True Value Modified Racing Series 100-lapper at Seekonk. All signs point to success!
