Last Friday night TC was back at Stafford with the #13 SK Modified. Since the debut of the car at the start of the 2007 season, Teddy and the crew have been working to dial in the setup. Headed into last Friday night they had finished second the previous two weeks. They hoped the fine-tuning would boost them up that final rung to the top of the ladder.
The car was strong once again, but circumstances beyond his control kept TC from that final step. Starting the 40-lap main from the 13th slot, Teddy was on the move from the drop of the green flag and charged his way up to second. A spin after contact sent him to the rear but he was back on the charge and moved back up to second. He was battling with Zach Sylvester for the lead when there was contact and the #13 spun for a second time. He fell in at the rear once more and was climbing his way forward a third time when he ran out of laps and finished in sixth. It kept him in the track point lead by 14 markers over Kerry Malone.
“The car is getting better every week,” said Teddy. “We keep making adjustments. Last Friday night I knew we had the car to beat. We got to the front and then got turned around. I went to the back and drove back up to the front a second time. I was better than Sylvester and I thought we had our first win. But the guy almost ran into the pace car and turned right into me and spun me out. I charged from the back a third time but just ran out of laps. One of these weeks maybe our luck will be as good as our racecar. We’re leading the points but we come here to win races.”
TC returns to Stafford this Friday night to continue the quest for victory.
