Teddy teamed up with Joe and Linda Brady and the Brady Bunch Racing team again this year in Florida. This pairing has produced much success in the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna Speedway in the past, including 20 feature wins together along with the 2000 Richie Evans Memorial 100. Those victories brought five World Series Championships and optimism ran high for making it an even half-dozen in 2008.
TC and the Brady team did put on a strong performance in the 42nd edition of the World Series. They qualified up front each night and ran with the leaders, compiling five top-five and four top-three finishes in the first six features. But they were shut out of Victory Lane until the final night. Ted’s consistency brought a third place finish in the final title standings, just seven points behind the leader. But the only place he knows is first place, and he failed to achieve that so it wasn’t a reason to celebrate.
“We ran very well every night,” explained TC. “We qualified up front and ran with the leaders. What really hurt us was the redraw – it’s hard to pass at New Smyrna and it seemed like we always started behind Blewett and the other fast cars. We were still a factor in the outcome every night, but not in Victory Lane. And there is no other place to be than first place.
“I want to thank Joe and Linda Brady, Scott, and all the guys on the crew for all their hard work. I love racing with them. This is a tough deal to race every night and it can wear on you. But Scott and the guys always give me a great effort and I'm happy for them that we got a win before it was over. We've had a lot of success together over the years and this feels like home. It's almost sad now that it's over for another year. But it's time to head back home and get ready for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour and racing the SK at Stafford."
