It really hasn’t been much of an ‘off-season’ for TC. Since climbing out of the Bear Motorsports #14 after the Turkey Derby at Wall, Ted has been spending a lot of time in Florida testing with Brumos Racing in preparation for the Rolex 24 at Daytona. It has been a learning process, getting used to the powerful Porsche Fabcar and the road courses. But TC is pleased with the process to date and looks forward to going racing at Daytona International Speedway on January 28-29.
“It has been a learning experience, that’s for sure,” smiled TC. “The cars are a lot different than anything I’ve driven before and so is the Daytona road course. It took me a little while to get comfortable. But I think I’m ready to be competitive. Everyone at Brumos Racing is very professional and they have been very supportive. This is a world-class organization and they know what it takes to win. I want to thank Bob Snodgrass, Mike Collucci and everyone on the team for the opportunity they have given me to compete at this level. I’m looking forward to the race and being part of a winning effort. I can’t wait to start road racing.”
Ted’s 2006 racing season officially begins this weekend at the Atlantic City Indoor Race at Boardwalk Hall. He will be driving at TQ Midget housed in the Aston, Pennsylvania shop of Lou Cicconi, Jr. The car, which will carry his familiar #13, is a Shadow chassis machine built by Bob Deboise, who built the car that Joey Payne drove to victory in the 2004 Indoor Race. Deboise will be the car’s Chief Mechanic for the event, giving TC some added confidence.
“As busy as I have been testing this winter,” admitted Teddy, “I can’t wait to start racing for real. Running a TQ indoors is a blast. It’s a fast, tight track with a lot of rubbing and bumping. Bob Deboise builds a great car and we will be very competitive. I’m looking forward to doing some serious racing this weekend. I like to stay busy.”
And then it’s on to Daytona.
